A dedicated advocate, Ami is committed to ensuring that every client receives a fair process and informed representation.
Ami Kim is the Managing and Supervising Attorney at The Kuba Law Firm, PC, bringing more than 15 years of experience in immigration and criminal defense. A native New Yorker, she earned her J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, where she focused on criminal law, founded the Criminal Law Society, and volunteered with The Innocence Project assisting with post-conviction DNA exoneration work.
Before joining KLF, Ami practiced extensively in Queens County—the most ethnically diverse county in the country—developing deep expertise in the intersection of criminal and immigration law. She has taught numerous Continuing Legal Education courses on these issues and is known for guiding attorneys through the complex consequences criminal charges may have on immigration status.
Ami has successfully litigated hundreds of cases, securing asylum, permanent residency, citizenship, and immigration relief for clients in immigration courts and before USCIS. Her criminal defense background includes multiple notable victories, including acquittals, dismissals, and strategic plea negotiations across a wide range of serious felony matters.
In her free time, she enjoys poker, chess, Rubik’s cube solving, K-dramas, and has even tried her hand at roller derby.
The firm represents individuals and families from countries all over the world and serves clients not only in the New York metropolitan area but throughout the United States.
